What did Tom Cruise say about Val Kilmer?

At CinemaCon for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (reported by Variety), Cruise requested the audience to observe a moment of silence in memory of his late co-star and friend. Prior to this, Cruise extolled Kilmer as an actor whose work he held in high esteem, expressing his gratitude for having had the opportunity to collaborate with him.

As a gamer, I’d like to take a moment here to pay tribute to an exceptional friend of mine, Val Kilmer. His talent on screen has always left me awestruck, and I feel incredibly fortunate and humbled when he decided to be part of ‘Top Gun’ and more recently in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. It’s not just his acting skills that have touched me; it’s the generosity and passion he poured into his craft, which has undeniably enriched our lives. So let’s take a moment to cherish the incredible memories we shared with him, and remember all the joy and inspiration he brought into our world.

Following the moment of silence, Cruise wished Kilmer well on his “next journey.”

Back in 1986, I found myself on the set of the iconic action movie Top Gun, where I portrayed the character of Maverick, while my co-star, Val Kilmer, brought Iceman to life. Over the years, we grew beyond our on-screen rivalry and forged a friendship that stood the test of time. In 2022, we reconnected for Top Gun: Maverick, marking a poignant chapter in both our lives, as it turned out to be Kilmer’s last on-screen performance. Unfortunately, in 2015, he was diagnosed with throat cancer, and the disease took away much of his speaking abilities.
