The Perfect Couple Ending Explained & Spoilers: Who Dies & Who’s the Killer?

Who dies in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple?

Merritt Monaco dies in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.

In the thrilling opening of this captivating series, I found myself standing at the altar on my big day, but the joy quickly faded as a chilling discovery was made – a body, hidden from view, yet its impact on me left no room for doubt that the victim held a special place in my life.

Who killed Merritt Monaco in The Perfect Couple?

In a surprising turn of events, it’s unveiled at the end of The Perfect Couple that Abby Winbury was actually the one who murdered Merritt Monaco.

Abby killed Merrit primarily due to the severe financial struggles she and her husband Thomas were facing, particularly during Abby’s pregnancy. To complicate matters further, Thomas owed Isabel, his mistress, a significant sum of $2.5 million. The couple had pinned their hopes on Tag’s will, which was intended to be distributed among his three sons. However, the condition was that they could only claim their inheritance once the youngest child reached 18, an event that was imminent just a few weeks after their planned wedding.

On the other hand, the surprising revelation that Merritt was carrying Tag’s child complicated their arrangements, since his baby would now stand to inherit. Abby found herself facing a quandary, as they would need to postpone the inheritance for another 18 years due to this development.

In order to find a solution for her financial struggles, Abby chose an extreme path: she secretly used pills that were stolen by Thomas (due to his drug addiction) which belonged to Amelia’s mother. She then added these pills to Merritt’s drink and persuaded her for a late-night swim. When Merritt became drowsy in the pool, Abby held her head forcefully underwater, ultimately causing Merritt’s death.

To enjoy this bone-chilling climax, make sure to watch The Perfect Couple on Netflix.
