Shemar Moore Reacts to SWAT Cancellation, Asks Netflix To Save Show

Before unveiling CBS’s TV schedule for 2025-2026, the network has decided to renew nine programs. Included in this group are NCIS, its two offshoots Origins and Sydney, as well as Fire Country and its spinoff Sheriff Country. On a disappointing note, the long-running series SWAT is being cancelled for a third time. Its lead actor, Shemar Moore, swiftly responded to the cancellation and appealed to Netflix for the show’s continuation.

Initially, CBS had been indecisive about whether to continue renewing SWAT. The show, which follows an LAPD squad, enjoyed a successful run for six seasons. However, in May 2023, CBS announced that season six would be the last. Interestingly, just a few days later, the network changed their mind and revealed that season seven would actually mark the end of SWAT’s run.

In April 2024, after a change of heart, CBS decided to renew the action-drama series “SWAT” for an eighth season. Previously, to prevent two cancellations, CBS, Sony Pictures TV, and CBS Studios negotiated a licensing fee agreement that kept the revamped show on air. However, it seems like this third phase of the series won’t continue. Yesterday, CBS officially announced that season eight of “SWAT” would be its final season.

What did Shemar Moore say about SWAT’s cancellation?

Shemar Moore has built a significant relationship not just with the SWAT unit but with CBS network over a prolonged period. His appearances on shows like Criminal Minds and The Young and the Restless have marked different phases in his acting career. Recently, he finds himself contemplating a fresh chapter of life following certain developments. In an Instagram video, Moore openly shared his displeasure about the show’s termination and proposed a concept for its comeback.

Hi Netflix! Just checking in to see how things are going. I’d like to bring up a small reminder about our past success together – it didn’t take us long to climb from position 15 to number 1, and we held strong in your top 10-15 for quite some time, possibly even a year or more. If you’re looking for a show that’s currently popular around the world, we’d be thrilled to collaborate with you again. The same invitation goes out to NBC, Fox, and ABC – feel free to join us in our creative endeavors. Let’s catch up over dinner, I’ll treat! Choose your favorite restaurant.

Netflix has a history of reviving shows that were previously canceled, such as Lucifer, Designated Survivor, and Arrested Development, which were dropped by their original networks. In these cases, fans’ desires were fulfilled when Netflix stepped in to continue the series. Let’s hope SWAT will follow suit, and you can view Shemar Moore’s full Instagram reel below:
