As a die-hard fan who has been following the Scream franchise since its inception, I can hardly contain my excitement as Neve Campbell, the iconic Sidney Prescott herself, returns to the forefront of the upcoming Scream 7. With her long-awaited comeback, we’re finally getting a chance to delve deeper into Sidney’s life, much like Jamie Lee Curtis’ return to the Halloween franchise.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that I, Sidney Prescott, will be taking center stage in the narrative of Scream 7. Can’t wait to dive back into the horror!
In the 2022 movie Scream, Campbell made an appearance alongside long-time franchise actors Courtney Cox and David Arquette. Unfortunately, a payment disagreement between Campbell and Paramount Pictures led to her absence in Scream VI in 2023. However, after the exit of stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega from the series, an agreement was reached for Campbell to rejoin the cast in Scream 7.
As a die-hard fan of the Scream franchise, I found myself excitedly shuffling my deck when director Christopher Landon announced his departure from the slasher sequel. But, to my delightful surprise, the queen of all queens, Sidney Prescott, is stepping back into the spotlight once again! She’s not just returning; she’s taking center stage in another Scream movie – and as a long-time fan, I can hardly wait to see what unfolds.
In conversation with Rachel Smith at ET, Campbell shared that the upcoming seventh film will revert to its roots and center around character Sidney Prescott, much like how Jamie Lee Curtis revitalized her role in the Halloween series in 2018.
Campbell shared with ET that they plan to go along with Sidney’s idea. This idea was presented to them, and it’s what prompted them to join in.
As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t contain my enthusiasm upon rejoining the Scream saga. I simply adore these films, they’re an absolute blast to be involved with. I feel incredibly fortunate for the role they’ve given me; it never crossed my mind that I’d be part of a movie series that would endure for so many decades.
What do we know about Scream 7?
The filming of Scream 7 is scheduled for December this year. The original Scream scribe, Kevin Williamson, will be directing this new installment. Notably, he has just immersed himself back into the world of slasher movies with the 2022 pandemic-themed horror film titled Sick.
As a die-hard fan, I’m left guessing if my favorite Scream character, Gale Weathers (portrayed by Courtney Cox), or any other surviving legacy character might team up with Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell) for the upcoming film. When asked about the possibility of a reunion of old times, Campbell playfully hinted at “may-haps.” It’s also been buzzing around that Mark Kincaid, the character from Scream 3 played by Patrick Dempsey, might make a comeback. Interestingly enough, in recent installments, it was disclosed that his character is married to Sidney. Both actors have had discussions about reprising their roles, but as of now, it’s still up in the air.
Actress Neve Campbell will reappear in Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer, and she’s also working as an executive producer for a documentary titled “Swan Song,” which focuses on the National Ballet of Canada’s rendition of Swan Lake.
