As a long-time comic book enthusiast and DC Universe fanatic, I must say that Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern series, titled “Lanterns,” has me absolutely thrilled! The image of Chandler sporting what appears to be a Green Lantern: Earth One look is not only intriguing but also perfectly aligns with my vision for this beloved character.
James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe is growing steadily, and fans have reportedly gotten their first sneak peek at Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern series, dubbed Lanterns. This HBO project was among the initial ventures that Gunn announced upon taking charge at DC Studios. Since then, the seasoned director has disclosed numerous details about the series’ plot and cast. However, a recent revelation seems to have unveiled what Chandler’s character might appear like in the show.
Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan likely to sport Green Lantern: Earth One look in DCU series
I stumbled upon an intriguing photo floating around online today, featuring Kyle Chandler posing alongside a fan with a brand-new look. It’s got quite a few gaming buddies like me scratching our heads and whispering “wow” because it seems to bear a striking resemblance to the distinctive appearance of Hal Jordan – the character Chandler will portray in the upcoming Green Lantern Series. Talk about uncanny!
The post from Everything_DCU reveals an image of a rough-hewn Kyle Chandler sporting shoulder-length hair and a substantial, medium-toned beard. His appearance bears a striking similarity to Hal Jordan’s look in the critically acclaimed graphic novel series Green Lantern: Earth One by Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko. Consequently, many fans have hypothesized that this could be the style Kyle Chandler might adopt for his role as a Lantern.
The series, labeled by Gunn as “realistic, credible, and authentic,” focuses on the adventures of an experienced Hal Jordan, paired with Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, a new member of the Green Lantern Corps, to unravel a murder case. This is why speculations about Kyle Chandler’s appearance might become part of the Lanterns’ final lineup. However, this theory remains unconfirmed at this point.
In 2011, Hal Jordan’s most recent on-screen appearance was in the Green Lantern film that received negative critical reviews. Ryan Reynolds played Hal Jordan in this movie, contrasting with Kyle Chandler’s rugged image. Instead of sporting a beard like Chandler, Reynolds portrayed a clean-shaven Hal Jordan, and his character wore a CGI-enhanced costume.
At present, there isn’t a confirmed launch date for the eagerly anticipated Green Lantern series as of this writing. Yet, Gunn’s remarks hint that we may see it on our screens around the year 2026.
