Amazon Studios has released the official trailer for the upcoming action comedy “Heads of State,” starring John Cena and Idris Elba, a duo who previously teamed up in James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad. This movie is set to premiere on July 2, only on Prime Video.

What happens in the Heads of State trailer?
The video presents John Cena as a former action film star now serving as U.S. President, embroiled in a feud with Elba’s character, who is the UK Prime Minister. Their rivalry takes a backseat when they find themselves under attack by an unidentified foreign threat. In addition to showcasing some thrilling action scenes, the trailer hints at the necessity for Cena and Elba’s characters to collaborate in order to protect the world from imminent danger.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that “Heads of State” is helmed by the talented Ilya Naishuller (known for “Nobody”). The script was penned by the duo Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec, along with Harrison Query. This action-packed film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, and Paddy Considine.
In addition to Naishuller, the movie is also backed by some big names in the industry. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dave Bautista are serving as executive producers, along with Marcus Viscidi, Josh Appelbaum, and André Nemec. Peter Safran and John Rickard are producing the film. So, buckle up for an unforgettable ride!
In the movie, Sam Clarke, the UK Prime Minister, and Will Derringer, the U.S. President, have a contentious and highly visible rivalry that strains their countries’ strong alliance. However, when they are both targeted by a formidable and merciless foreign enemy, who overpowers their security forces, they reluctantly find themselves relying on one another as their only trustworthy allies. Together with the cunning MI6 agent Noel Bisset, they must evade capture and collaborate for a brief period to prevent a worldwide conspiracy that endangers global freedom.
