As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating through frozen wastelands and battling mechanical behemoths, I’ve learned to appreciate the art of patience and strategy in games like The Forever Winter. The Bring Her In quest, though seemingly straightforward, offers a unique challenge that tests both your wits and reflexes.
In The Forever Winter, “Bring Her In” is a tricky mission early on. To accomplish it, you’ll have to locate, gather, and retrieve with an Exo Pilot. There are two methods to complete this task, one being faster but probably requiring several hours of gameplay before you can execute it effectively.
How to save, collect, and extract with the Exo Pilot in The Forever Winter
One approach could be to allow the conflict to unfold organically, as it happens. Locations for finding Exo suits vary based on where the opponents appear randomly within the game’s map.
Start your game at the Cemetery on the Scorched Enclave map. Then, make your way diagonally towards the farthest corner from where you begin. This spot isn’t frequently visited by many players, but it’s an excellent starting point for tanks, Exos, and adversaries you might be tracking down. Sometimes, a lone Exo can be found spawning in this area.
The second spot is right outside the extraction in the pipes. EXOs can spawn here, and it is also on their patrol route from other areas. It might be the better option to pick for one simple reason: tanks also spawn here.
To take out the Exo effectively, it’s ideal to use an enemy tank, although be prepared for a long wait given that tank AI tends to be less intelligent in this game. With persistence, the Exo will eventually be defeated. Once the area is safe, you can then collect the pilot much like any other loot.
Approach the debris carefully, ensuring there’s an empty space for you to store the recovered items (like a Large Lockbox or Water Barrel typically would). Once you’ve secured a spot, you can pick up the items and carry them on your back. After that, be cautious while extracting the items, as they are fragile. Remember, there’s a precious human life on your back, so avoid any unnecessary risks such as incoming fire. There will be two interactive spots, with the upper one containing the pilot and the lower one holding the loot from the wreckage.
Another approach could be seen as a less strict interpretation of the task at hand. Essentially, our goal is to rescue someone from danger, so why not put ourselves in that same danger? By becoming either Bag Man or Mask Man, each with only 2000 XP earned, we can unlock Grenade Launchers. It’s important to note that a Grenade Launcher is capable of defeating an Exo in roughly three shots.
To achieve this goal, navigate to location A marked on your map, where the Exo will appear singly. Defeat them, rescue the pilot, and then escape together from that spot.
In many cases, this choice might be preferable since it’s quicker and provides greater flexibility. At times, however, when adversaries refuse to eliminate each other as desired, things may not proceed as planned.
