As a fan who has been following Austin Abrams’ career with keen interest, I must say that his latest role in Wolfs is a testament to his versatility as an actor. From his early days on The Walking Dead to his recent performances in Euphoria, This Is Us, Dash & Lily, Do Revenge, and The Starling Girl, Abrams has consistently shown his ability to adapt to various roles and genres.
The recently released action-comedy, titled “Wolfs,” features the stellar duo of George Clooney and Brad Pitt. This production is helmed by Jon Watts, with Austin Abrams, known for his role as Ron Anderson in AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” also starring.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s Watts who is famed for his contributions to the Spiderman trilogy. He penned and orchestrated the movie ‘Wolfs’, a narrative that focuses on two independent operatives, often referred to as lone wolves, who are compelled to join forces.
George Clooney plays the role of Margaret’s Man, with Brad Pitt portraying Pam’s Man. J.J. Abrams takes on the character of Kid. Other actors in the cast include Amy Ryan as Margaret, Poorna Jagannathan as June, Zlatko Burić as Dimitri, Richard Kind as the father of Kid, and Frances McDormand provides the voice for Pamela Dowd-Henry.
Although they wear identical attire and share the conviction that no one can match their abilities, the fixers persistently argue that they aren’t colleagues, even when they are both contracted to resolve the same issue. Abrams enters the narrative as the supposed victim the fixers were tasked with disposing of, but it is revealed that he is actually alive. This revelation, coupled with a significant amount of drugs, adds an extra layer of complexity to their jobs.
Prior to its premiere on AppleTV+ on September 27, the film “Wolfs” was only shown in select theaters. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds a rating of 68%, indicating that the acting is strong despite some predictable plotlines, resulting in an enjoyable and polished throwback.
According to Deadline both Clooney and Pitt are slated to return in a sequel to the film.
Austin Abrams – other roles
As a gamer speaking, I’ve had some pretty cool roles over the past years. In seasons 5 and 6 of “The Walking Dead” on AMC, I stepped into the shoes of Abrams. Then, in ‘Euphoria,’ I brought Ethan Lewis to life. On ‘This Is Us,’ I became Marc McKeon. And let me tell you, getting to star as Dash in the Netflix original rom-com ‘Dash & Lily’ was an absolute dream come true!
Lately, he has appeared in another Netflix original titled “Do Revenge,” alongside Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke, as well as the Peacock drama “The Starling Girl” with Eliza Scanlen and Lewis Pullman. Additionally, you can catch him in the eight-part series “Penelope,” which debuted on Netflix on September 24.
On October 18th, the movie titled “The Line” by Ethan Berger will be released, featuring actors like Alex Wolff, Lewis Pullman, Halle Bailey, Austin Abrams, Angus Cloud, Bo Mitchell, Denise Richards, Cheri Oteri, Scoot McNairy, and John Malkovich.
