How to get Microcosm - Destiny 2

As a seasoned Destiny 2 veteran, I can wholeheartedly say that the pursuit of Microcosm has been one of my most thrilling adventures yet! This mini Traveler-esque Trace Rifle is not only visually stunning but also packs quite the punch against foes with shields.

Achieving Mastery over Microcosm should be the ambition of every Destiny 2 participant. This artifact empowers you with a sense of being a mini Traveler, annihilating adversaries using a burst of Kinetic energy. Acquiring this Trace Rifle is quite a challenging endeavor, requiring you to finish The Final Shape campaign along with numerous missions assigned by Micah-10.

As a gamer, I’ve just unlocked the Microcosm by successfully completing the Budding phase of the Convalescence quest, which was kindly provided by Micah-10 following the completion of The Final Shape campaign. To even get this Exotic quest, I had to kick off Destined Heroes and see through a chain of Convalescence missions from our friend Micah-10. Here’s a quick rundown of my tasks:

  1. Complete The Final Shape campaign
  2. Start Destined Heroes quest and finish Queens, Part 1
  3. Complete Convalescence: Rootbound
  4. Complete Convalescence: Underbrush
  5. Complete Convalescence: Greenery
  6. Complete Convalescence: Budding

First, make sure you’ve finished “The Final Shape” campaign and returned to The Old Tower in The Pale Heart. Speak with Ghost to obtain an Exotic quest called “Destined Heroes”. Proceed with this quest until you meet Micah-10, which will occur following the completion of Queens, Part 1.

Micah-10 will assign you numerous tasks, including several Convalescence missions. Additionally, she’ll provide the mission “Alone in the Dark,” which is essential for unlocking the Khvostov 7G-0X. Initially, concentrate on finishing the first three Convalescence quests as they introduce you to three key elements of The Pale Heart: Ghostly Injuries, Traveler’s Blessings, and Overthrow.

During your recovery, Rootbound has asked you to locate a wounded Spirit in The Forgotten Deep, a hidden sector. You’ll find this Spirit near the big tree in the last chamber. After you’ve returned to Micah-10, activated the fresh growth, and claimed your prize, you can collect your reward.

Recovery: Venturing through Underbrush involves utilizing the updated Flickering Grace to obtain a Traveler’s Grace. You can find one by unlocking chests in The Pale Heart or by completing Pathfinder assignments and opening the chests they yield. To proceed, you’ll require two blessings. Afterward, make your way back to Micah-10.

Recovery: The new Overthrow activity within Greenery is what it’s all about. Participate in a matchmaking session for this activity and start cracking open treasure chests. You should finish this step entirely to move on to the next one, which will be starting soon. Now, you’ll need to accomplish the Sword Dance Cyst, a distinctive Lost Sector-like cavern within your destination.

Once all tasks are accomplished, you’ll gain access to Convalescence: Budding, moving one step nearer to revealing Microcosm. To do this, finish three cooperative campaign missions in the new Focus mode: Ascent, Dissent, Iconoclasm. You can initiate these missions from the Pale Heart map on the right-hand side. These missions come with distinct modifiers that increase their difficulty, so ensure you’re well-prepared with a strong fireteam for the challenge ahead.

Finish everything first and afterward, return to Micah-10 to acquire Microcosm, a Trace Rifle with its primary function being Kinetic damage in the Power slot.

The weapon Trace Rifle, located in your Power weapon slot, deals more damage than expected. It excels particularly well against enemies equipped with shields, but also proves useful against those without them. Here are its special features:

  • Paracausal Imbuement: Final blows with this weapon grant Super energy. This weapon gains bonus damage once your Super expires.
  • Paracausal Beam: Fires beam of Kinetic light, dealing massive bonus damage to shields.

As I dive into the expanded world of Destiny 2 with Microcosm unlocked, there’s no question that I’ve only scratched the surface!
