As a child growing up in India during the late 80s and early 90s, I was deeply influenced by the stories of Mahatma Gandhi that were woven into our history lessons and family conversations. The tales of his nonviolent resistance, his unwavering commitment to truth, and his relentless pursuit of justice have left an indelible mark on my soul.
2024 marks the celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, India’s renowned freedom fighter. Today, we honor his 155th birth anniversary, affectionately referred to as Bapu. In tribute to this remarkable figure, several prominent actors from the South Indian film industry such as Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan, and Mammootty, among others, are expressing their respects.
On his official platform (previously known as Twitter), Chiranjeevi posted a picture of Gandhi accompanied by the message: “Reflecting on the Mahatma… His strength lay in peace, persistence, and truth.
Alternatively, Kamal Haasan wrote a touching tribute to Bapu, expressing that “Gandhi’s life dedicated to serving others will endure through time, becoming a defining point in human history, as the pivotal moment when one humble man influenced the intellectual development of human civilization.
The renowned performer went on to explain that Mahatma Gandhi, both as a person and through his ideology, has significantly impacted his personal journey. Emphasizing that Bapu is constantly present in his thoughts, the actor shared how, much like his own father, Mahatma Gandhi has shown him the power of conquering all with integrity and affection.
