In the upcoming movie “Captain America: Brave New World”, it’s been confirmed that Anthony Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson (who plays Captain America), won’t be using the Super Soldier Serum. Instead, he’ll continue to embody an ordinary man as “Captain America for the people”. This means that unlike Steve Rogers, Sam will navigate his role without superhuman abilities, potentially facing even greater perils in this unique circumstance.
Anthony Mackie says his Captain America won’t take the Super soldier serum
In a chat with ComicBook, Anthony Mackie expressed his thoughts on why his Captain America character won’t ingest the Super Soldier Serum. He simply stated, “I don’t believe he will.” He went on to say, “If you examine Sam, Sam embodies the ideal of every man’s Captain America.” He continued, “The concept of him being an ordinary individual who has been put in a leadership role resonates with all of us, something we can all understand and relate to.
Mackie underscored that administering the serum would alter Sam’s essence. He further stated, “I believe it’s crucial for him to avoid the serum, as this eliminates the chance for any of us to become Captain America.
Brave New World.” Unlike Steve, Sam doesn’t possess superhuman abilities. Instead, he utilizes his training, talent, and advanced technology, such as his flight suit, to lead in a world that is vastly different from the one Steve once safeguarded.
During a chat with GamesRadar+, Mackie delved into Marvel’s unique narrative style, using the emotionally impactful portals scene from Avengers: Endgame as a prime instance of how they craft powerful cinematic experiences.
Mackie expressed that the most impactful cinematic moment in history, for him, is when Steve Rogers steps onto a cliff, with everyone having been snapped away, and he stands against Thanos’s army. He mentioned how emotionally intense that scene was, and he believes that Marvel has mastered this art of emotional climaxes. In his opinion, this movie handles it exceptionally well.
In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” Mackie plays Sam Wilson, with Danny Ramirez portraying Joaquin Torres and Harrison Ford taking on the role of both President Ross and the Red Hulk.
The film releases in theaters on February 14, 2025.
