Deadpool & Wolverine Reviews Lead to Franchise Low Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic Scores

As a long-time fan of the Deadpool franchise and having followed the development of this much-anticipated crossover movie between Deadpool and Wolverine, I have to admit that I’m feeling a bit deflated by the early critical reception. Don’t get me wrong – as a fan, I’ve enjoyed reading the positive reviews praising the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and the irreverent humor that Deadpool is known for. However, the low critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic have left me concerned.

The long-anticipated film collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine is almost here, but critics have already shared their initial assessments. This highly anticipated production signifies Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Hugh Jackman reprising his legendary portrayal of Wolverine from previous X-Men productions. However, despite the fervor over their on-screen union, early critic reviews have yielded the lowest scores for the Deadpool series to date.

Deadpool & Wolverine reviews are lowest in Deadpool series

Although Deadpool & Wolverine have earned mostly favorable feedback so far, they’ve also drawn some of the lowest critic scores among the Deadpool series. On Rotten Tomatoes, this film has a “Certified Fresh” rating of 81% based on 149 reviews. This is a slight decrease from the 85% score of the initial Deadpool movie and the 84% score for Deadpool 2. Metacritic reports a more moderate score of 55 out of 100, based on evaluations from 47 critics.

Significantly, about forty percent of the critic reviews for Deadpool and Wolverine on Metacritic are classified as mixed. A mere eleven percent of these evaluations are categorized as negative. For instance, Katie Walsh from the Los Angeles Times gave the movie a middling score of 50 in her critique. She described it as “full of hot air with little substance to back it up.”

Donald Clarke from The Irish Times gave a stern critique of the film, labeling its humor as overly corporate and filled with immature elements.

Despite drawing criticism from some, the film has garnered rave reviews from numerous critics. According to Jonathon Sim from ComingSoon, it’s a film that “comic book fans and cinema enthusiasts can take delight in.” The general consensus among critics, as reflected in the film’s “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is that it’s an entertaining and unexpectedly heartfelt tribute to an era of superhero films.

As a long-time fan of superhero movies and having closely followed the hype surrounding the Deadpool franchise, I can’t help but express my eagerness for the upcoming film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine. However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that the audience reception, as measured by reviews on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes, remains an essential piece of the puzzle yet to be fully uncovered.

In the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ryan Reynolds portrays Deadpool. Notably returning is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Additionally gracing the screen are Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, and Dafne Keen, among other talented actors.
