In Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, the Mint Retrograde is the initial weapon in a fresh category we call a rocket-propelled Pulse Rifle. With its Strand element and outstanding performance, this firearm truly shines. Obtaining the ideal build for the weapon only enhances its brilliance.
Here are the god rolls you want for the Mint Retrograde.
Mint Retrograde PvE god roll
Our Mint Retrograde PvE god roll has one goal: high damage output and add clear potential.
In endgame challenges, you’ll frequently need your weapon drawn not just for executing mechanics, but also during periods of high damage output (DPS phases). The Retrograde is exceptionally versatile, boasting traits that excel in both roles.
Mint Retrograde god roll – PvE | |
---|---|
Barrel | Linear Compensator (+5 Stability, +5 Velocity, +5 Blast Radius) |
Magazine | Appended Mag (+1 Magazine, or one additional round in the chamber) |
Perk 1 | Rewind Rounds (Stores how many hits you get with the weapon, then, when the magazine empties, returns 60% of that value to it) |
Perk 2 | One for All (Hitting three different enemies in a short span increases damage by 35% for 10 seconds. Buff does not refresh and must be reapplied) |
Origin Trait | Problem Solver (Sustained damage to Champions, bosses, and minibosses reduces their damage output and increases this weapon’s handling and reload speed) |
Masterwork | Blast Radius (+10 Blast Radius when maxed out) |
Mod | Backup Mag (+1 Magazine) |
In virtually any PvE situation, the Mint Retrograde proves effective. The ability One for All consistently keeps a damage boost active between periods of boss attacks. Since most bosses are surrounded by enemies to attack, renewing the boost won’t present much difficulty.
Rewind Rounds helps keep the weapon active longer, minimizing reloads and thus downtime.
The Linear Compensator offers an optimal balance for the Mint Retrograde, enhancing its consistency in shooting accuracy across various distances and situations. The Appended Mag significantly boosts the firearm’s performance, while having a Backup Mag ensures that you have access to up to seven additional shots.
Mint Retrograde PvP god roll
In PvP (Player versus Player), the Mint Retrograde isn’t as powerful as it is in PvE (Player versus Environment). However, it’s still quite effective. The traits you choose for it will change significantly, though, so if you’re planning to use it in Crucible (a PvP game mode), you’ll need to farm a specific version of the weapon for that purpose. If you manage to get a Tier 3+ version with multiple options, then you won’t have this constraint.
Mint Retrograde god roll – PvP | |
---|---|
Barrel | Quick Launch (+10 Velocity, +15 Handling) |
Magazine | Appended Mag (+1 Magazine) |
Perk 1 | Beacon Rounds (Final blows grant the weapon’s projectiles tracking and improve its reload speed. Additional hits enhance the effect) |
Perk 2 | Master of Arms (One final blow grants a damage bonus for seven seconds. A second grants a larger one for four seconds) |
Origin Trait | Vanguard Determination (Using your class ability causes final blows to grant damage resistance) |
Masterwork | Velocity (+10 Velocity when maxed out) |
Mod | Backup Mag (+1 Magazine) |
In the game Crucible, if it takes a longer time for your projectile (like that of Mint Retrograde) to reach an enemy, it gives them more opportunity to retaliate and potentially survive. Therefore, speed or velocity is crucial for the effectiveness of your attacks.
Beacon Rounds enhances the tracking on your gunfire, thus mitigating the problem somewhat. The Master of Arms skill assists in subsequent battles, but you’ll likely need to gather some additional special ammunition to achieve more than two kills effectively.
How to get Mint Retrograde
The Mint Retrograde can only be obtained as a Pinnacle Ops reward, which requires you to accomplish Exotic missions. This gives you an opportunity for it to appear randomly. The Whisper is the swiftest of these tasks, while Encore is likely the most beneficial (once all the bugs have been resolved by Bungie).
During a Pinnacle Operations activity, any Legendary Engram could potentially yield the Mint Retrograde. This applies not only to the engrams found within the final reward chest but also those obtained after vanquishing an opponent.
Every Pinnacle Ops task features a midway treasure chest that dispenses a solitary loot item. Additionally, the Mint Retrograde could potentially appear within this location. Prioritize missions offering extra rewards when available.
In Destiny 2’s endgame, the harder the challenge you select for progression, the greater your chance of receiving a higher-level reward. However, it’s crucial not to make these missions excessively difficult as you may struggle to finish them, which could potentially prolong the process longer than desired.
