In an extensive chat with Entertainment Weekly, director James Gunn clarified that although someone else manages his social media presence, the ideas and opinions shared are always his own.
When asked about managing his multiple roles, Gunn explained, “I rely on others for much of my social networking. It’s still me, it’s still my words, but often times, other people are the ones posting it. Additionally, other people frequently bring me questions from online, which I answer and send my responses.
The filmmaker also shared that during his long journeys by plane or car, he often uses social media platforms like Threads to respond to fan questions. He further noted, “You can identify these instances easily as there’d usually be five to six responses clustered together approximately every three weeks.
In the same interview, Gunn discussed occasions when he deems it essential to dispel rumors regarding DCU projects. He explained that he’s largely stopped doing so because rumors spread so frequently. Moreover, he pointed out that there are individuals often referred to as ‘scoopers,’ who have substantial followings, and they consistently publish misinformation, one false story after another, approximately 95% of the time.
