The Death Stranding animated movie has received a major update.
Aaron Guzikowski has agreed to write the script for an upcoming Death Stranding animated film aimed at adults. Guzikowski is recognized primarily for his work on Raised by Wolves, a science fiction drama that premiered on HBO Max between 2020 and 2022.
In a statement through Animation Magazine, Guzikowski expressed his enthusiasm and privilege saying, “I’m captivated by the realm of Death Stranding. It’s incredibly innovative, possessing a haunting beauty that holds a glimmer of hope. I feel fortunate to be invited by Hideo Kojima, whose work I’ve long respected, to contribute to his imagination, to help shape fresh narratives within this thought-provoking, imaginative universe.” Reflecting on his passion for drawing and animation, he added that stepping into this creative space is a long-cherished dream realized.
What is the Death Stranding animated movie about?
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited about the upcoming animated movie based on Hideo Kojima’s groundbreaking game, Death Stranding. This cinematic venture promises to weave its own unique tale, set within the captivating world of Death Stranding.
Kojima Productions and Line Mileage announced the animated movie.
Last month during an interview with Vogue Japan, Kojima hinted at both the upcoming anime version and his A24 live-action film inspired by the Death Stranding video game.
Kojima mentioned he’s collaborating with A24 on a live-action movie version of Death Stranding. His goal is to create a film that is uniquely cinematic, one that could potentially earn accolades at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Interestingly, they are also working concurrently on an anime adaptation.
2019 saw the unveiling of Kojima’s game, Death Stranding, an adventure in a post-apocalyptic world. In this game, a courier is tasked with delivering essential supplies across the country following a sequence of strange occurrences. The mission aims to save mankind and halt mass extinction. This captivating title boasts star-studded performances by Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Mads Mikkelsen, Margaret Qualley, and Guillermo del Toro.
The sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, will be released by Sony on June 26, 2025.
The upcoming A24 film adaptation of Death Stranding, a video game, will be penned and helmed by director Michael Sarnoski, best known for his work on A Quiet Place: Day One.
