On their podcast, The World’s First Podcast with Erin & Sara Foster, Gwyneth Paltrow referred to the 2023 ski trial as “absurd” during her interview on April 24th.

She expressed her disbelief by saying, ‘It’s absurd to think someone could ski into me, send me tumbling to the ground, and then file a lawsuit against me! This epitomizes everything that’s flawed with our legal system,'” she remarked.

In 2016 at Deer Valley Resort in Utah, I found myself embroiled in an unexpected incident on a beginner slope. Retired optometrist Terry Sanderson claimed I collided with him, a charge I vehemently denied. Initially, he sought $3.1 million in damages, later revised to $300,000, alleging that the incident caused both physical and emotional harm. However, I countered by suing him symbolically for just $1, asserting that he was the one who bumped into me from behind.

Throughout the eight-day court case in March 2023, Paltrow stood firm on her stance, stating, “This is why I needed to defend myself.” She further added, “I’m not going to be intimidated or coerced here. I refuse to succumb to such tactics.

In my own words as a supporter, I’d say: “You know, I can’t help but admire the bravery she’s shown. For two long weeks, she’s faced tough questions, almost like being hit over and over again. It would have been simple for her to just write a check and move on, but instead, she chose to stand tall and face it all.

The jury determined that Paltrow was not responsible for any wrongdoing and granted her the requested sum of $1. Earlier, she had mentioned that she would give away any extra money she received to a charitable cause.

Sanderson asserted that Paltrow abandoned him without help following the accident, whereas she declared that he informed her he was alright. This case and subsequent trial garnered nationwide interest because of the celebrity’s involvement and sensational courtroom testimonies.
