Changing between builds can sometimes be a rather complicated task, particularly during the endgame phase. At this point, it’s not just about managing your armor and weapons, but also numerous decorations, skills, and even layered armor. All these elements can make the process of crafting a build more intricate.

As a seasoned Monster Hunter Wilds player, I’ve found that mastering the “loadout” system is crucial for success. This versatile feature lets me customize my gear setup, ensuring I’m always ready for any challenge ahead. Here’s a breakdown of how to create and save your preferred loadouts in this epic game.

What Are Loadouts in Monster Hunter Wilds?

In simpler terms, Loadouts function as your personalized gear configurations that you can save and access later. You have over 100 slots available for these custom setups, so there’s ample room for storing them all. Plus, the game lets you label each loadout with a unique name, which makes it more convenient to select the right one depending on the type of monster you’re targeting.

In my gaming experience, loadouts aren’t particularly essential in the early stages. But as I climb up the ranks and enter the endgame, they become indispensable, especially for those who enjoy tinkering with various weapon types or elemental damage. Basically, you can save multiple elemental build setups, making it a breeze to switch strategies on the fly.

During Event Quests and the main endgame, this feature offers great versatility for adjusting your gameplay. Furthermore, storing your loadouts makes tweaking your builds much more efficient. Once you reach the endgame, managing Decorations and skills can become quite laborious. This is where loadouts prove useful. By saving your build, you’re able to experiment with different Decoration combinations. If the new skills don’t suit you, simply switch back to your original setup using the loadouts.

How To Save Your Build Using Loadouts?

As a Monster Hunter Wilds gamer, I’ve got two convenient spots to tweak my loadouts: the Pop-up Campsite or Base Camp tents, or even at the Smithy (Gemma). If I’m at the Pop-up Campsite, here’s what I do – I navigate to the ‘Equipments’ tab and click on ‘Change Equipment’. This allows me to scrutinize my current build and its parts. But if I want to access my loadouts quickly, all I gotta do is press L3 or LS (on PlayStation or Xbox controllers) to open the Loadouts menu. To register a fresh loadout, just find an empty spot in the Loadouts menu and hit Triangle or Y. To rename a loadout, simply select it, press Triangle or Y, then choose ‘Rename’.

Just like you modify your Palico’s gear, you can do so by visiting the Palico Gear tab. At the Smithy, open the equipment menu by pressing ‘R1’ or ‘RB’ and choosing the ‘Change Equipment’ option. Additionally, you can save Layered Armor setups. But remember, Layered Armor customizations are accessible exclusively through the Pop-up or Base Camp tents.
