In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chu (the director of Wicked: For Good) mentioned that the upcoming sequel to Wicked will primarily focus on “repercussions.” He further explained that there will be a significant amount of introspection in the second movie. The characters are grappling with questions like, “Was the choice you made the right one?
When speaking to Variety, Chu also hinted that Dorothy may be showing up in the sequel.
In the series, Dorothy is present, as he clarified. Their stories are meant to intertwine, and there’s only so much hinting you can do. He didn’t specify whether she will be a character in the next film, but there’s a part of him that encourages each viewer to imagine their own Dorothy. However, there is interaction and some overlap between their stories. So, he’ll let Part Two decide more about this.
