The Witcher 4 trailer kicks off a “new saga” with Ciri as the protagonist

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for the richly-woven tales of The Witcher series, hearing the announcement of The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2024 sent a thrill down my spine. With CD Projekt RED’s mastery and Unreal Engine 5’s prowess, I can hardly contain my anticipation for this new adventure.

At The Game Awards 2024, it was officially announced that CD Projekt RED has been working on The Witcher 4. Built using Unreal Engine 5, this upcoming role-playing game immerses players in the captivating universe of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy series following the launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

The Witcher 4 announced

In simpler terms, The Witcher 4 features gameplay where you take on the role of Ciri, created by Warren Spector and alongside a new Ninja Gaiden. Post the events of The Wild Hunt, Ciri has grown into a skilled monster hunter.

In the game, although Geralt’s presence is confirmed by his voice actor, it appears that he has stepped back from being the main character. Now, the storyline is centered around Ciri, as the developers embark on a fresh narrative journey where Geralt no longer plays the primary role.

In development is The Witcher IV, an upcoming single-player open-world role-playing game by CD PROJEKT RED, makers of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This new installment marks the start of a fresh storyline, serving as a sequel to one of the most celebrated RPGs ever made. Ciri is the main character in this game, setting off on her own adventure to master monster hunting skills.

The launch date for the upcoming open-world game remains undisclosed as of now, though predictions point towards a release date in either 2026 or afterwards. It’s also speculated that the game will be available for both PC and consoles; however, no official platform confirmation has been made yet.
