As a seasoned gamer and Outlander fanatic who has attended more than a dozen conventions, I can confidently say that The Gathering 2024 was an event for the books! The third day was a perfect blend of organization and excitement. It’s always a treat when things run smoothly, and I appreciated the early start to make the most of our time together.
On the third day of The Gathering 2024, I found myself rising a bit earlier than usual. It seemed that the organizers had decided to kick things off a tad early, aiming to pack as much excitement into the day as they could.
Today’s schedule proceeded more fluidly than Day 2. All tasks were completed on schedule, and we managed to handle all the outstanding items efficiently. Interestingly, the majority of requests for autographs centered around Lauren Lyle because she had two Meet & Greet sessions, which meant there was less time available for other autograph signings.
Three sets of group photos at The Gathering 2024
On this particular day, there were three unique sets of photographs to be taken, specifically for the trio consisting of Caitlin and Paul (referred to as a “Throuple”), the pair known as The Hunters, and the MacKenzie family. Everyone managed to capture these specific images.
John Bell chose to linger in the community photo area during the Sasnak gathering, where the primary purpose was for siblings to assemble and capture a professional group photograph. Typically, cast members may not stay long due to commitments elsewhere at the convention.
Since John didn’t need to attend any make-up signings or Meet & Greet sessions, he was able to spend extra time with the photography team. This was a bonus for those who had purchased a community photo, as they received an exclusive experience on occasion.
Three more Meet & Greets during Sasnak City
As a gamer, I attended three scheduled Meet & Greets on Sunday, ensuring they were well-spaced for everyone’s convenience. Kicking off the day was Caitlin, followed by Steven and lastly Izzy. In this post, we’ll delve deeper into each Meet & Greet experience in a separate article, but much like at the Chocolate Shop or Turtle Soup stand, selfies were handled first to clear the way and minimize time spent on them.
As the Meet & Greet events unfolded, folks took advantage of the opportunity to explore different booths and enjoy casual conversations with their companions. It’s not uncommon for some individuals to still be taking it easy on this day, as they recuperate from the previous night’s festivities!
A closing panel with a story we’d waited all The Gathering 2024 for
The closing panel was an emotional one. It’s the last time Sasnak City will be in the World War I Museum and on that stage. The museum is where it all started eight years and 12 events ago!
To put it simply, the cast’s performance brought on even more laughter. The anticipation had been building all weekend for this particular story. Here’s the thing: during those two days, there were rubber ducks scattered across the stage. These ducks were part of a humorous anecdote shared by Tim Downie about ducks. For those who hadn’t heard the tale before, he repeated it. I can honestly say that it was even funnier the second time around! This whole situation is linked to the filming of Outlander, as ducks unexpectedly interrupted a speech that Tim was giving at the time.
After addressing more queries, we bid farewell yet again – to one another and to the museum.
At the World War I Museum in Kansas City, what you see now is just a part of Sansak City – the end, if you will. But fear not, for there’s much more to come! In the year 2025, events will continue, with The Kingdom being one that’s currently scheduled.
