As a seasoned Stalker 2 survivor, I’ve learned the hard way that a gun is not just a tool, but a beacon of danger in this radioactive wasteland. I’ve had my fair share of close calls, from a group of Bandits mistaking me for a juicy target to a Stalker taking umbrage at my mere presence.
In Stalker 2, your weapon is likely your most crucial item, yet it doesn’t necessarily have to be displayed prominently when interacting with others. If you prefer a stealthier approach, here’s how you can safely secure your weapon (or holster it).
How to holster your weapon in Stalker 2
In Stalker 2, stow your in-game firearm by pressing the ‘H’ key on your keyboard. If you’re using a controller, hold down the ‘Y’ button instead. Remember, withdrawing your weapon again is done by repeating this action. It’s wise to secure your weapon upon initially encountering a settlement.
In certain situations, both hostile groups and I have had intriguing encounters. At times, simply brandishing a gun makes them attack immediately, but if I only possess my scanner and bolt, they seem to regard me as harmless. However, it’s challenging to predict due to the lack of uniformity in these interactions, and it’s unclear how the various AI groups within the game have been designed.
Generally speaking, it’s wise to keep your weapons at hand while traversing unfamiliar territories, but once you’ve established trust, you can carry your weapons openly without causing much trouble.
