As a lifelong follower of medical advancements and a fan of captivating personalities, I find myself intrigued by the nomination of Dr. Mehmet Oz as the potential administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under President Trump’s upcoming administration.
I’m thrilled to share that in the 2024 elections, I was re-elected as the US President and have chosen none other than Dr. Oz for the role of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator. With numerous other selections for my upcoming administration also under scrutiny, this pick has sparked a lot of curiosity, especially with many asking about who Dr. Oz actually is.
Here’s everything to know about Mehmet Oz and his role in the Trump administration.
Who is Dr Oz?
Dr. Oz is a well-known television host, medical professional, educator, and writer, born in 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio, to a Turkish-American family. To relinquish his dual citizenship, he spent two months serving in the Turkish Army. Following in his father’s footsteps, Mustafa Öz, who was a renowned thoracic surgeon at the Medical Center of Delaware for many years, Dr. Oz chose a career in medicine as well.
Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Oz completed his undergraduate studies in biology with high honors at Harvard University. He later earned both MD and MBA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Known for his impressive medical career, Oz began his professional journey as a resident at New York City’s Presbyterian Hospital and eventually joined Columbia University in 1986.
For over three decades, I’ve had the privilege of being affiliated with the esteemed school, even earning the title of professor emeritus in 2018. However, it seems that Columbia University took steps to erase any trace of me from their records in 2022. Known primarily as the host of The Dr. Oz Show (2009-2022), I’ve found myself embroiled in controversy due to allegations of promoting pseudoscience, faith healing, paranormal beliefs, and alternative medicine.
In the year 2022, Oz waged an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. Senate seat from Pennsylvania, advocating a conservative agenda. Since 1985, he has been married to his spouse Lisa, who is well-known in television, and together they have four children: Daphne, Arabella Sezen, Oliver Mustafa, and Zoe Yasemin.
After Trump’s declaration, Oz shared on X (previously known as Twitter), “I am privileged to be selected by @realDonaldTrump for the role at CMS. I am excited to serve my nation in our mission to Make America Healthy Again, under the guidance of HHS Secretary @RobertKennedyJr.
