Vasco Da Gama OTT release: When and where to watch Nakkhul’s Tamil fantasy comedy flick

As a seasoned cinephile who has traversed the labyrinth of Indian cinema for decades, I must confess that my journey has been adorned with both gems and duds. The latest addition to this kaleidoscope is the Tamil fantasy comedy movie, Vasco Da Gama, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Aha Tamil.

Nakkhul’s Tamil fantasy comedy film titled “Vasco Da Gama,” helmed by director RGK (RG Krishna) and featuring the prominent actor KS Ravikumar in a significant part, is set to debut on OTT platforms following its theater release on August 2, 2024.

Starting from this month’s theater debut, you can now stream the film on Amazon Prime Video India and Aha Tamil as of today, September 6, 2024. The leading actor shared the exciting news on his official account, stating, “Get ready for a hilarious weekend! Gather your loved ones to watch Vasco Da Gama, now streaming on Prime Video India & Aha Tamil.”

The film “Vasco Da Gama” is set in an alternate reality where the moral compass is flipped. In other words, actions typically deemed as good are now perceived as evil, and vice versa. This fantastical setting presents challenges for Vasudevan, a young and upright individual, as he navigates through his life.

A significant shift occurs as a heart-wrenching personal event lands him behind bars, yet this prison is famed for its criminal paradise. The remainder of the film follows Vasudevan’s journey through obstacles in the strange environment and his struggle to reconnect with his loved one amidst life’s numerous complications.

The movie additionally delves into the ethical complexities found within a peculiar, regressive setting, using humor as its storytelling tool. Besides Nakkhul, notable actors such as K.S. Ravikumar, Arthana Binu, Vamsi Krishna, Anandraj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Munishkanth, Redin Kingsley, Premkumar, T.M. Karthik, Badava Gopi, and several others play pivotal roles in the film as well.

Although the storyline was unusual, the movie struggled in cinemas and garnered unfavorable criticisms from reviewers too.

In this film, it is RGK who both wrote and directed. The visuals are handled by NS Sathish Kumar for cinematography, while Tamil Kumaran takes care of the editing. Furthermore, Arun NV is responsible for creating the movie’s music tracks and scores.
