Deadlock represents Valve’s latest creation, still under active development, and at this moment, only a restricted group of players are participating in an ongoing beta test. To become part of the Deadlock beta testing, a certain amount of luck may be required because it isn’t just a matter of filling out a registration form.

To participate in the Deadlock playtest, you require an invitation from someone who already has access to the game. At present, there’s neither a “Request Access” button nor a sign-up form available on the game’s Steam page. If you have a connection with someone who can invite you, all you need is to be friends with them on Steam, and they can extend an invitation to you.

When your friend elects to sends you an invite, it is not guaranteed that you will gain access. Valve may choose to prevent more players from joining. If you do receive an invite, it will be sent to you via your email address and you will be directed to install it through your Library.

If you can get into Deadlock, you’re able to extend invitations to your friends for the playtest right from the main menu. Down in the lower-right corner, there’s an “Invite Your Friends” button. Give it a click, then browse through your friend list, clicking “Invite” next to anyone you want to send a code to.

Normally, it takes between one and two business days for an invitation to be sent out. Keep in mind that Valve has the discretion to restrict the number of invitations you can send, regardless of whether the invitation is successfully delivered or if they decide to revoke access. The decision lies entirely with them.

Getting into the Deadlock playtest is as simple as having a friend extend an invitation. However, locating such a friend who has already gained access to this yet-to-be-released game may prove challenging.
