As someone who grew up on a steady diet of survival horror classics from the early 2000s and has a soft spot for gritty British dystopias, I can hardly contain my excitement for Hollowbody by Headware Games! The demo earlier this year was a tantalizing taste of what’s to come, and now that we have a release date (September 12, 2024) firmly in sight, it feels like Christmas came early.
Solo developer Headware Games will release their tech-noir survival horror game Hollowbody on PC next month.
Hollowbody can be characterized as a tribute to traditional survival horror games, infused with a futuristic flair. This game takes place in the United Kingdom, ensuring a gritty and bleak post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
In the not-too-distant future, I find myself navigating through the dilapidated ruins of a once-great British city. Abandoned and decaying, this urban jungle is the setting for Hollowbody – a chilling tribute to survival horror games. The environments are gritty and intricately detailed, creating an oppressive, claustrophobic atmosphere that’s hard to shake off.
Earlier this year, there was a preview for the game that I found quite intriguing. The UK-inspired survival horror genre it showcased has catapulted it to the top of my eagerly awaited games list.

Hollowbody will be released on September 12, 2024 on PC via Steam and GOG.
Characters assume command over Mica, an unauthorized trader dealing in illicit goods, who goes to any length to locate her vanished partner. When her aircraft crashes far within the restricted area, she’s deserted and stranded with minimal supplies. To forge a path through the zone, she must tackle environmental challenges, allocate resources wisely, and battle for survival as she seeks a means to break free from the enclosure.
She needs to find a way out. Call for evac, scale the walls. Something. Anything. Survive.
