Tamil Film Producers Council issues ‘red card’ for Dhanush and urges makers to discuss his casting with association

As a devoted fan of Dhanush, I find myself deeply saddened by the recent turn of events surrounding the beloved actor. It seems that the Tamil Film Producers Council has issued a “red card” against him for allegedly abandoning ongoing projects after taking advance payments. This is certainly not the image I have always associated with Dhanush, who has consistently delivered exceptional performances and demonstrated his dedication to the art of acting.

1. Dhanush found himself in a predicament following the Tamil Film Producers Council’s decision to issue a warning (red card) towards him, accusing him of leaving uncompleted projects while receiving upfront payments. They advised producers to consult with the council before deciding to work with him on future films.

Tamil Film Producers Council issues ‘red card’ for Dhanush

starting from August 16 until November 1, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) will pause the initiation of all fresh movie projects and related tasks. This move is aimed at addressing the pile-up of movies at different stages of production.

In addition, we will examine the increasing production costs caused by artist fees and various other expenses. A gathering took place with representatives from the Tamil Film Producers’ Council and the Tamil Film Producers’ Association, among others.

While engaged in the conversation, I noticed the mention of Dhanush that drew significant attention. The topic at hand was the concern of actors and technicians leaving ongoing projects following advance payments. And it was then that his name came up.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Dhanush was reportedly accused by Sri Thenandal Films in the year 2023 of accepting an advance payment but failing to show up for filming after receiving it.

According to News18’s report, the council asked that if Dhanush has already received advance payments from multiple film producers, they should first seek approval from the Tamil Film Producers Association before beginning production on new movies featuring him.

According to an article by IndiaGlitz, Dhanush received a warning (red card) and so did Tamil actor Vishal, who was accused of mismanaging the council’s finances while serving as the president of TFPC.

Dhanush on the work front

Dhanush recently appeared in the long-awaited movie “Raayan,” which hit theaters on July 26, 2024. So far, viewers have given it positive feedback. Upcoming for him is another eagerly-expected film titled “Kubera.” In this project, Dhanush will collaborate with Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna in significant roles.

Additionally, Dhanush is set to feature in the upcoming Ilaiyaraaja biopic. The movie’s direction is being handled by Arun Matheswaran, with Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production, and Mercuri Movies collaborating on its production. The biopic will be distributed in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
