The third-day revenue of Kamal Haasan’s new film, “Indian 2,” has experienced a considerable decrease compared to its initial strong performance. Unfortunately, the movie has failed to sustain its success and has shown a clear drop in income during the weekend.

Released on July 12, 2024, Indian Film 2 amassed $3 million in total earnings on its first day, spanning all languages. However, the box office performance has been lackluster since then, with revenues decreasing daily. The film brought in $2.1 million on its second day, marking a 28.91% decrease from its opening day collections. This downturn continued on the third day, with earnings dropping another 17.03%, resulting in a Sunday collection of only $1.8 million.

Currently, the Indian film “Indian 2” has earned a domestic total of approximately $7 million. It’s worth mentioning that the Tamil version accounted for around $4.9 million of this amount, while the Telugu version contributed about $1.6 million. The Hindi version, known as “Hindustani 2,” managed to gather around $454 thousand. Notably, the Hindi version had a modest opening of around $143 thousand and maintained a steady box office performance, with an even slight increase on Sunday.
The varied responses from critics and viewers have had a considerable influence on Indian 2’s earnings at the box office. With the immense anticipation and acting prowess of Kamal Haasan, one would have assumed that the film would maintain its initial buzz and achieve long-term success. However, the data indicates that Indian 2 has failed to do so. The movie’s poor showing during its opening weekend has been a significant blow. Additionally, competing against Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, a remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, has added to Indian 2’s struggles at the box office.
Shankar’s Indian 2 is the follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster Indian. In this continuation, Kamal Haasan repeats his beloved portrayal of Senapathy, a freedom fighter who has been gone from India for over twenty years but now faces corruption head-on.
