Zootopia 2 Update: New Images Released as More Characters Announced

New images from Zootopia 2 have been released.

Back in March 2016, the initial Zootopia movie hit the screens. It turned out to be an immense success for Disney Animation Studios, earning more than a billion dollars worldwide at the box office. This triumph paved the way for a television series, titled Zootopia+, which debuted in 2022, and now, a sequel is being developed.

What is the new Zootopia 2 update?

Fresh snapshots from Zootopia 2 are now available for viewing below, courtesy of X. The first image presents fans with a fresh face, Mayor Winddancer, who is portrayed as having transitioned from acting to politics. The second image showcases Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), strolling alongside a beaver character named Nibbles (Fortune Feimster).

At the Annecy Animation Festival today, Disney offered a sneak peek at Zootopia 2 as reported by Variety. During the event, writer and director Jared Bush revealed that Nick and Judy have become rookie partners at the Zootopia Police Department. The central question of this film, according to Bush, is whether these two distinct animals can maintain their relationship over the long term. Essentially, if the first movie depicted their honeymoon phase, this sequel will explore what moving in together entails.

I’m stoked to share some exciting news! It turns out that Jean Reno, famous for his roles in films like La Femme Nikita (1990), Léon: The Professional (1994), and Mission: Impossible (1996), will be lending his voice to an officer of the Zootopia Police Department. Can’t wait to see how he brings this character to life!

Speaking about the characters reappearing in Zootopia 2, Bush mentioned, “Chief Bogo, Clawhauser, Gazelle, Mayor Bellwether, that yak without clothes, Judy’s 278 siblings, Mr. Big and his daughter Fru Fru, and not forgetting Flash will all make a comeback.

The voice cast further includes Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby.

Zootopia 2 will be released in United States theaters on November 26, 2025.
