Zoe Saldaña Hopes Star Trek 4 Gets Done Soon

As a die-hard Star Trek fan who has followed the franchise since its early days, I am eagerly awaiting the release of Star Trek 4. The fact that Zoe Saldana, the talented actress who brought Uhura to life, is expressing her desire for the movie to be made sooner rather than later only adds to my anticipation.

Zoe Saldaña expresses her desire for Star Trek 4 to be completed someday, regretting that it wasn’t made earlier in time.

What did Zoe Saldaña say about Star Trek 4?

As I chatted with Deadline, Saldaña shared her heartfelt sentiment: “I wish we could’ve brought the movie to life a bit sooner, considering how our team has grown a touch more silver in the process.” She added a chuckle, implying that the years have given us all a sprinkle of extra wisdom, or perhaps some gray hairs!

Saldaña expressed a desire for the task to be completed earlier instead of later, saying, “It seems as though many of us are already sporting quite a bit of gray hair, so if we’re planning to bring back the same cast, let’s get moving on this promptly.

Regarding her expectations for the next film, Saldana expressed that it seems fitting to delve deeper into the connection between Uhura and Spock, as portrayed by Zachary Quinto, in any potential future productions.

Saldaña mentioned that it’s been some time since she delved back into Star Trek and the characters’ tales. She noted a special connection between Uhura and Spock, suggesting that it’s intriguing to explore where their relationship might go next, both in their personal and professional lives.

Previously reported about the fourth installment of the sci-fi movie is that Steve Yockey, known for his work on the TV show ‘The Flight Attendant’, has signed on to write the script.

For about five years now, it’s been confirmed that Star Trek 4 is in development by Paramount Pictures. However, the project has experienced several creative shifts, such as changes in directors. Last year, doubts arose among fans regarding whether Star Trek 4 would ever be made, as Paramount removed it from their 2023 movie release calendar.

At the start of 2022, during Paramount’s Investors Day event, producer J.J. Abrams announced that Star Trek 4 was, in fact, underway and anticipated a return of the original cast including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Simon Pegg. At present, there’s no director assigned to the project as WandaVision’s Matt Shakman has left due to scheduling issues with Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four production.
