Zendaya Teams With A24 & Barry Jenkins for ‘Bad Girl of Rock & Roll’ Movie

Award-winning actress Zendaya has been confirmed to collaborate with director Barry Jenkins on an A24 biographical drama film, focusing on the life story of renowned musician Ronnie Spector. In this upcoming project, Zendaya will be embodying Spector, famously known as the “queen of rock and roll’s bad girl.

The upcoming project is said to be inspired by Spector’s 1990 memoir titled “Be Me Baby,” which she co-authored with Vince Waldron. Before her passing in 2022, Spector herself had chosen Zendaya for the role in her biographical film. The original plan was for the late singer to serve as executive producer of this project as well.

Who else is involved in Zendaya’s Ronnie Spector movie?

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the upcoming Ronnie Spector movie is under the direction of Jenkins, with Dave Kajganich penning the screenplay. From what I hear, Kajganich is putting in a lot of effort to craft an “expressive portrayal” of the singer’s life. Both Jenkins and Zendaya aim to create a one-of-a-kind biopic that will truly captivate audiences. The production team includes Zendaya, Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Mark Itkin, Tom Shelly, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak. Jonathan Greenfield serves as an executive producer for this project.

In the latest development, Zendaya has joined forces again with A24 following their successful partnership on the hit HBO series Euphoria, which is being filmed for Season 3. Their collaboration extends to an upcoming romance-drama film titled The Drama, where they will be joined by Robert Pattinson in lead roles. As of now, Zendaya has several prestigious projects lined up, such as Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4 and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Interestingly, both films will bring her back together with her Marvel co-star and fiancé, Tom Holland.
