Yuri Lowenthal says he won’t be returning for the Persona 4 remake

Following the achievement of Persona 3 Reload last year, there’s been plenty of discussion about a possible remake of its successor, Persona 4. Although talks about such a project have primarily been speculative, we might have received a subtle hint from an unconventional source. Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal has openly declared that he wasn’t invited to reprise his role in the potential Persona 4 remake.

In a post on his social media platform, BlueSky, Yuri Lowenthal, who provided the voice for Yosuke in the initial English version of Persona 4, shared with fans that he won’t reprise his role in the remake of the game. He expressed his desire to return but was told by the team that they don’t want him to participate this time around.

It appears that we’ve only gotten unofficial hints about a possible Persona 4 remake so far, as neither ATLUS nor Sega have officially confirmed any such project. However, Yuri’s offhand comment seems to suggest that there might indeed be truth to the rumors of a Persona 4 remake. This has led fans to express their excitement and surprise in the comments section of Lowenthal’s post, as they believe he was discussing an unannounced game.

It’s possible that the approach for the upcoming Persona 4 remake could resemble how ATLUS managed Persona 3 Reload, where a significant portion of the original voice actors were changed. Given that Summer Game Fest and its associated events are approaching, we might learn more about the Persona 4 remake earlier than expected.
