The movie titled “Your Monster” is a forthcoming blend of horror and romance, featuring Melissa Barrera from Scream. Originating from a 2019 short film with the same name, it’s set to hit theaters in October this year.

What is Your Monster about?
The movie synopsis states that it centers around Laura Franco, played by Melissa Barrera, who is a quiet actress. She’s left by her long-term partner, Edmund Donovan, during her recovery from surgery and seeks solace at her childhood home. In the midst of a disheartening future, she learns that her ex is producing a musical they had developed together, causing further distress. However, amid these painful life transformations, a creature named Tommy Dewey appears, forming a bond with Laura. This monster inspires her to pursue her aspirations, open up emotionally, and embrace the passion hidden within her anger, leading her towards love and self-discovery.
In addition to Barrera, Donovan from the Civil War era, and Dewey known for Saturday Night, the film also features Meghann Fahy, famously recognized in The White Lotus, as well as Kayla Foster, who is recognized from The Deuce.
Caroline Lindy will be stepping into the role of a feature film director for the first time with “Your Monster.” Not only is she the writer of this movie’s script, but she also plays an essential part as a producer. Alongside her in these roles are Foster, Kira Carstensen, Melanie Donkers, and Shannon Reilly.
Previously, Barerra shared with Collider that the film is an exceptional independent production which he found incredibly rewarding. He has come to appreciate smaller films because they offer more creative control, making it feel like a collaborative effort among everyone involved. It’s almost as if everyone is putting in extra effort to make this low-budget project shine and reach its full potential, aware that they don’t have the backing of a major studio. This lack of support makes him even more determined.
The movie titled “Your Monster” is set for a theater release in the United States on October 25, 2024, distributed by Vertical Entertainment.
