Young Werther Trailer Sets Release Date for Douglas Booth & Alison Pill Rom-Com

Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy, “Young Werther,” featuring Douglas Booth (from “My Salinger Year”) as the lead character and Alison Pill (known for “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) as Charlotte. The movie is adapted from Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s 1774 tragic romance novel, “The Sorrows of Young Wether.

When is the Young Werther release date?

After its first screening at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, the film Young Werther is set to open on December 13 in both cinemas and digital outlets. The lineup also features Iris Apatow (from This is 40) as Sissy, Patrick J. Adams (known for Suits) as Albert, Amrit Kaur (star of The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Melanie, Jaouhar Ben Ayed (famous from No Man’s Land) as Paul, and several others.

In the course of an ordinary trip to Toronto, a young, easy-going author named Werther encounters the love of his dreams, yet learns she is already betrothed. Ignoring advice from his anxious friend, Werther throws caution to the wind in a comedic, ill-advised and desperate attempt to win her affection. This sums up the plot of the film.

The movie is helmed by director José Avelino Gilles Corbett Lourenço, who is not only starring in the film but also working as an executive producer with Jonathan Bross, Andy Wang, Dave Mepham, Matthew E. Chausse, Mason Novick, Joe Simpson, and Simon Williams. The production team includes Matt Code, Julie Strifler, and Natalie Urquhart.
