You Won’t Believe Who’s Playing Sinestro in HBO’s ‘Lanterns’ Series!

In the forthcoming HBO show titled “Lanterns“, Ulrich Thomsen has been selected to portray the well-known DC antagonist Sinestro. Thomsen is renowned for his performances in “Banshee” and “The Blacklist“. He will be teaming up with Kyle Chandler, who was previously announced as Hal Jordan, and Aaron Pierre, playing John Stewart.

Initially, Sinestro served as part of the Green Lantern Corps, an elite interstellar force that harnesses magical power rings for universal protection. Known for his strength, intelligence, and expertise, Sinesto was a highly respected member among the Green Lanterns. However, his ambition for order and control twisted him into misusing his powers. He advocated that fear, rather than willpower, was a more potent means of maintaining peace. His ideological shift eventually led to his dismissal from the Green Lantern Corps. Later, he persuaded the Weaponers of Qward to craft him a yellow power ring, fueled by fear instead of willpower. With this ring, Sinestro founded the Sinestro Corps.

As a devoted cinephile, I’ve always found the dynamics between characters like Hal Jordan and John Stewart pivotal in Green Lantern tales. It’s intriguing to speculate how these figures will intertwine with a narrative that’s been labeled as a Midwestern murder mystery. This upcoming series is a collaborative effort by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King.
