New Line Cinema’s upcoming action fantasy sequel titled “Mortal Kombat 2” has its first poster and official logo unveiled by Warner Bros., offering fans an initial glimpse of The Boys actor Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. Set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025, the film will share its release month with other anticipated films like the Michael Jackson biopic, Tron: Ares, and The Black Phone 2.

Who is involved in Mortal Kombat 2?

The upcoming sequel to the popular video game series is being helmed by Australian director Simon McQuoid, who co-wrote the script with Jeremy Slater, known for his work on Moon Knight. Details about the storyline and characters of this new installment are being tightly guarded. Similar to its predecessor, the film has been given an R-rating due to “intense graphic violence and gore, as well as strong language.” The production team includes James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, and E. Bennet Walsh.

In the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2, we’ll see Hiroyuki Sanada reprising his role as both Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, along with several other familiar faces. Newcomers to the roster include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Martyn Ford as Emperor Shao Kahn, Damon Herriman as Netherrealm demon Quan Chi, Desmond Chiam as Edenian King Jerrod, and Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel.
