Players of Final Fantasy 14 have faced challenges with the game’s Forked Tower: Blood Raid, a challenging encounter that even experienced players find difficult both to conquer and access.
After unveiling their newest raid for the popular MMO, Final Fantasy 14, producer and director Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida has acknowledged that the raid’s level of difficulty was an oversight during development. It was intended to be challenging, but it ended up being too difficult.
In a conversation with RPG Site, YoshiP clarified that the Forked Tower: Blood Raid was intended more as an engaging challenge rather than hardcore content. However, during the development process, it turned out to be significantly harder than intended.
The director and producer of FF14 expressed their view that Forked Tower: Blood was a development error. They didn’t intend it to be intense content from the start, but hoped it could become challenging over time as more players adapted. However, they admitted that the final product was too difficult for many players to access the raid successfully.
Ever since the launch of the raid, Square Enix has been consistently updating the game with patches aimed at making the raid more accessible for players. Yet, YoshiP acknowledges that it’s challenging to craft content that caters to both casual and dedicated gamers within a timeframe that suits everyone, which occasionally leads to such difficulties arising.
The director and producer clarified that they are striving to complete their project within a particular timeframe, catering to all types of players. Simultaneously, increasing the number of developers wouldn’t automatically result in twice the output, as maintaining the same high-quality standard remains crucial.
In August, it’s anticipated that the next major update for Final Fantasy 14, titled version 7.3, will be released. This update includes Pilgrim’s Traverse, a challenging dungeon designed for casual players, with an exceptionally difficult boss for those seeking an extra tough fight.
Following an apology for the “service quality” issues with numerous glitchy updates, it’s clear that Final Fantasy 14 remains in a strong position. Despite some lingering development kinks that need smoothing out, we can hope for improvement shortly.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting updates on the Final Fantasy IX Remake. Unfortunately, recent rumors suggest that this beloved project might be scrapped. If true, it’s quite disappointing.
