Wondering why Dallas rapper Yella Beezy is making news again? The capital murder charge against him has brought renewed interest in the 2020 death of fellow rapper Mo3. Authorities claim Beezy arranged a hit that resulted in the daytime highway shooting.
Let’s delve deeper into the specifics of the case, identify those involved, and understand how detectives traced the key links resulting in this significant accusation.
Why was Yella Beezy arrested?
Law enforcement officials in Dallas apprehended rap artist Markies Deandre Conway, also recognized as Yella Beezy, and indicted him for first-degree murder, a charge linked to the 2020 demise of fellow rapper Melvin Noble, who was popularly known as Mo3.
On March 18, 2025, a grand jury in Dallas County accused Conway of paying someone to carry out a shooting with the intent and knowledge that such an act would occur. (Source: NBCDFW)
On November 11, 2020, a masked individual armed with a gun fatally shot Mo3 during daylight hours along Interstate 35E in Dallas. According to police reports, Mo3 got out of his vehicle and fled on foot before the shooter pursued him and fired multiple shots. Footage from traffic cameras documented the incident, which soon spread across various platforms.
The indictment alleges that Conway contracted Kewon Dontrell White to perform the fatal act. As specified in the agreement, Kewon White then intentionally and knowingly fired shots with a firearm, resulting in the death of Noble, as stated by USA Today. Authorities apprehended White a month subsequent to the shooting incident. Currently, he is imprisoned for a term of nine years due to gun-related charges.
A second individual, Devin Maurice Brown, was charged by a grand jury for his role in the fatal incident. Detectives utilized phone logs and security camera footage to establish that both suspects were in proximity to the crime scene prior to the shooting. Subsequently, federal officials accused Brown of drug and weapons offenses following the discovery of a stolen AK-47, narcotics, and substantial amounts of money in his residence.
On March 20, 2025, authorities apprehended Yella Beezy and lodged him in the Dallas County Jail without setting a bail. He is currently facing a capital murder charge, which potentially carries the sentence of capital punishment.
Last year, in 2021, authorities apprehended Beezy for miscellaneous offenses, such as illegal gun ownership and sexual misconduct arising from a different occurrence.
