Despite the fact that the debut of the Wonder Man miniseries starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II on Disney+ is still some time away, it’s already receiving positive feedback. Marvel Studios’ TV Head, Brad Winderbaum, even went so far as to call it “the best show no one’s ever seen” in a recent interview.
Brad Winderbaum loves Marvel’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen-led Wonder Man series
The executive producer of the X-Men ’97 series has recently confirmed that Wonder Man will appear in a total of eight episodes.
Brad Winderbaum shared with Collider his thoughts about the new Marvel series: “It’s a fresh taste, created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Honestly, it’s one of my all-time favorites! I believe it’s an unseen masterpiece, and I can’t wait to see people’s reactions. I think it’s a heartfelt ode to our work as filmmakers.
In the opinion of Winderbaum, “Wonder Man” is a heartfelt tribute to acting as a career and a truly moving, beautiful production. This Marvel series was brought to life by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, who served as its creators. Previously, Cretton directed the 2021 MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Notably, Guest has contributed to writing on popular shows such as 30 Rock, Community, Suburgatory, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
During the same interview, Brad Winderbaum mentioned that the lengths of the episodes can vary slightly. He explained that the shortest episode runs around 20 minutes or so, while the longest one lasts approximately 40 minutes.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, ‘Wonder Man’ is inspired by the Marvel Comics character of the same name, which was brought to life by writer Stan Lee, artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. Back in June 2022, it emerged that this project had been one of Director Cretton’s Marvel assignments. At that point, ‘Wonder Man’ was still in its early stages of development. Filming started in April 2023 in Los Angeles, California and lasted approximately a year before finishing up in April 2024.
Wonder Man premieres on Disney+ in December 2025.
