As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit, Ubisoft has been on a roll this year! From Star Wars to Prince of Persia, and now XDefiant, it’s been a delightful journey. XDefiant, their first foray into the free-to-play live-service shooter, has shown promise and I can’t wait to see what Season 2 holds.
This year has been a strong one for Ubisoft, with a variety of game launches. Among these are their first Star Wars game and a fresh installment in the Prince of Persia series. Additionally, there’s XDefiant, Ubisoft’s initial foray into the free-to-play live-service shooter genre. The team at Ubisoft San Francisco is eager to continue providing new content, and they shared their plans for Season 2 on Wednesday.
In Season 2 of XDefiant, we’ll introduce the Highwaymen – characters that some gamers might recognize as the villains from Far Cry New Dawn. They’ll arrive armed with the weaponry they used in Hope County, including the Saw Launcher as a powerful Ultimate move. The Highwaymen will make their appearance alongside the fresh Waterfront map, set in an untouched wilderness area. Teams will engage in combat on various locations such as aqueducts, an abandoned skate park, and a central stage for performances.
If you’re seeking an experience more akin to Ubisoft’s sister franchise, Rainbow Six, you’ll be thrilled to discover the new Bomb mode! In this fresh setup, one team takes on the role of offenders, tasked with disarming a bomb strategically placed in the map’s heart. The defenders, on the other hand, must protect the bomb by eliminating the attacking squad.
Ubisoft is optimistic that Season 2 of XDefiant will provide a chance to address some of its larger issues, particularly the slow pace of progression within the game. They plan to enhance the Battle Pass progression flow for a smoother experience. Additionally, they aim to make improvements in the netcode that players have often requested.
XDefiant isn’t slowing down! Ubisoft San Francisco has a comprehensive plan set for the game during its first year. This encompasses fresh factions, weapons, maps, and game modes. Additionally, anticipated features like death replays are planned for Season 3. As for XDefiant’s Season 2, it’s slated to commence next week.
