As a long-time gamer who has seen the ebb and flow of console exclusivity over the years, it’s always a rollercoaster ride waiting for that coveted game to finally land on your preferred platform. The rumors about Indiana Jones and The Great Circle potentially making its way to PlayStation have stirred up quite a storm in our gaming community.
It appears that Xbox’s Indiana Jones and The Great Circle might not just be limited to Xbox and PC platforms. Despite being marketed as an exclusive for Xbox and personal computers, rumors suggest that a PlayStation 5 version may also be under development.
It’s no wonder that as games like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves, among others, are making their way to PlayStation, we might observe another exclusive title moving to the PS5. Yet, given that Xbox’s exclusive lineup has been shrinking in comparison to Sony’s, one may question whether this is a move too far?
Indiana Jones’ PlayStation Port
As reported by well-known leak source Nate the Hate, it appears that Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will make its debut this coming December, available exclusively on Xbox for a limited time. Following the end of this exclusivity period, the game is expected to also be launched on PlayStation 5.
Based on information from a source, it appears that the PlayStation 5 version of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is expected to launch in the first half of 2025. Since the game’s initial release is planned for December, the exclusive period might only last approximately six months.
Although Indy’s latest game can still be played via Xbox Game Pass, some fans are expressing dissatisfaction over rumors suggesting a possible PS5 version. However, it is important to note that these speculations have not been officially confirmed, so consider the information with caution.
Phil Spencer on Exclusivity
Previously, Xbox head Phil Spencer dismissed rumors about Indiana Jones appearing on PlayStation. Before the unveiling of Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, among others on PlayStation 5, Spencer clarified that neither Starfield nor Indiana Jones would be available on Sony’s console. Yet, plans are known to evolve over time.
Spencer stated, while discussing the upcoming PS ports, “They are neither Starfield nor Indiana Jones.”
Due to the frequent updates in exclusivity periods, it’s become common for games such as Final Fantasy XVI to be released on PC a year after their exclusive launch on PlayStation. Yet, it’s clear that Xbox is not getting as many titles as its rivals, and fans are expressing their dissatisfaction.
