WWE Reportedly Eyeing Former AEW Star Miro for a Potential Return

A fresh piece of news surfaced about professional wrestler Miro, previously known as Rusev in WWE, hinting at a possible comeback to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Miro was part of the WWE family from 2010 until 2020, and his popularity among fans soared towards the end of 2017 with the emergence of the “Rusev Day” persona.

Regardless of his ongoing success, WWE didn’t manage to make the most of his momentum. In 2020, they let him go because of budget cuts linked to COVID-19, which eventually led him to join AEW towards the end of that year. With AEW, Miro went head-to-head with prominent wrestlers such as Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Will Ospreay and even won the AEW TNT Championship.

Initially scheduled to stay with AEW until 2026, Miro opted for an early release towards the end of 2024. This decision came after he had been absent from AEW programming since the last months of 2023. His request was granted in February 2024, and he parted ways with the company simultaneously with Ricky Starks and Malakai Black.

After getting released, there’s been buzz about Miro potentially returning to the WWE, as he was recently seen with former World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. This encounter has sparked speculation, and recent reports indicate that the WWE is seriously considering bringing him back into the fold.

According to recent updates from Sportskeeda WrestleBinge and WrestleVotes, there’s a possibility that Miro could make his WWE return before the end of this year. However, it might not be imminent as the report suggests a more likely timing for his comeback would be during the summer or fall months. [Credit: Sportskeeda]

As a hardcore WWE fan, I’ve got to say, the prospect of Miro returning is pretty darn exciting! The promotion could bring him back with his beloved “Rusev Day” persona that once had fans going wild. But let’s wait and see when he steps into the ring again; it remains to be seen if WWE will resurrect the “Rusev Day” gimmick or not.

Miro (previously known as Rusev) may rejoin forces with his wife, CJ Perry (formerly Lana), in the WWE following their recent marriage renewal after a short separation. It’s intriguing to ponder whether his previous manager could also return to the scene alongside him.
