As a long-time wrestling enthusiast with years of experiencing the highs and lows of the industry, I wholeheartedly agree with Bully Ray’s sentiments regarding Mariah May and the media’s handling at AEW WrestleDream 2024. It’s disheartening to witness such a lack of curiosity and professionalism from those who should be championing the successes of our favorite wrestlers.
Legendary WWE Hall of Famer, Bully Ray, has voiced his admiration for AEW Women’s Champion, Mariah May, following WrestleDream 2024. This remarkable year in All Elite Wrestling has seen Mariah May clinch victories in both the Owen Hart Cup and the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Months ago, Mariah surprised fans by backstabbing her best friend Toni Storm. After clinching the top contender position with her victory at the Owen Hart Cup, May later betrayed Storm. Their conflict unfolded at AEW All In, where May emerged victorious over Storm to claim the AEW Women’s World Championship. Since then, Storm has remained out of sight on TV, while May has taken center stage as a shining star in AEW’s women’s division. At AEW WrestleDream 2024, she successfully defended her title against Willow Nightingale in a tough battle.
After a tough fight, May successfully defended her AEW Women’s Championship. However, the post-match press conference was subdued. Interestingly, none of the reporters posed any questions to her. Disappointed, she exited the conference with a parting comment, “Well done, team. You have a promising future.” The media’s lack of interest in May upset AEW Hall of Famer Bully Ray, who voiced his disapproval towards the press for overlooking the AEW Women’s World Champion.

Bully Ray criticizes media’s handling of Mariah May
Legendary WWE Hall of Famer, Bully Ray, has publicly shown his backing for AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May. On “Busted Open Radio,” he voiced his displeasure towards the media for seemingly ignoring May. He openly expressed his frustration with the press corps for not inquiring about or acknowledging the AEW Women’s Champion, Mariah May.
Ray initially invited Mariah May on “Busted Open Radio” as a first step. Following this, he voiced his disapproval towards those who attended the post-WrestleDream press conference, labeling them as uncurious and unwilling to ask any questions to the AEW Women’s Champion. He went on to express that they failed to show adequate respect by not asking even one question.
Bully Ray didn’t just criticize the media, but he also pointed out that Mariah May’s match was the only women’s bout in the main event. More recently, AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May replied to his remarks on X (previously known as Twitter), saying, “I look forward to our conversation.
