Wuthering Waves might jump from patch 1.4 to 2.0, according to leaks

As a long-time fan of Wuthering Waves, I’ve grown accustomed to the excitement and intrigue that comes with each new patch update. The recent leak suggesting a jump from version 1.4 to 2.0 has left me feeling both hopeful and skeptical.

Wuthering Waves is nearing the completion of its first major update, version 1.1. Amidst excitement for upcoming content in live-service gacha games, there are indications that WuWa might jump ahead, even skipping potential patches 1.3 to 1.5, and move directly to a significant update – version 2.0.

A title on r/WutheringWavesLeaks reads “New update labeled as Version 2.0 will follow version 1.4, with no indication of versions 1.5 or 1.6 based on leaked game files” (as mentioned in UncleBirdieWindow’s post). The community is unsure about the authenticity of this claim. While some insiders can view upcoming patch information within the game files, there seems to be a missing link between versions 1.4 and 2.0.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed some conflicting opinions on Reddit about the recent 2.0 leak. One of the moderators even shared some info that might cast doubt on its authenticity. Some users are pointing to a Twitter user named Palito, who argues against the idea that we’ll go straight from the current version 1.4 to 2.0. Instead, Palito suggests that there might be an intermediate update, like 1.5, before we reach 2.0.

An upgrade from version 1.4 to 2.0 for Wuthering Waves would be meaningful, but it’s not entirely impossible. Kuro Games could utilize this major update to introduce new content they have planned. Such updates usually follow the release of a game by about a year. However, considering that Wuthering Waves has been available since May 23, it seems quite unlikely for the game to reach version 2.0 so soon, as there is still plenty to discover in Huanglong.

The issue with leaks is that they are often speculative and not always trustworthy. While there’s evidence from game files, there’s nothing definitive about Wuthering Waves being similar. However, one can’t rule out the possibility.

In the realm of gacha games, it’s common for significant updates to occur between versions. For instance, Honkai Star Rail progressed from update 1.6 to 2.0, while Genshin Impact advanced from version 3.8 to 4.0 in the past. (Or: In the gacha game community, it’s not unusual for games to experience major updates between versions. For example, Honkai Star Rail moved from update 1.6 to 2.0, and Genshin Impact transitioned from version 3.8 to 4.0.)
