On Threads, James Gunn was asked about Wonder Woman, and he suggested that the character may have a bright future in the revamped DC Universe.
A fan inquired from Gunn about the latest news regarding Wonder Woman, to which he responded cryptically: “There’s information I can’t share just yet, but rest assured, it’s promising.
Following a revamp of DC, there were whispers about who might embody the Amazonian princess within their universe. Since key DC figures such as Superman are being recast, it’s plausible that Gal Gadot may no longer portray her character. She last played the part in the 2020 film Wonder Woman 1984.
In March 2025, Grace Caroline Currey, known for her role in DC’s Shazam! (2019), expressed her thoughts about potentially playing Wonder Woman following fan speculation. She commented, “It’s been lovely to see such support. Being part of the universe has felt like a stroke of luck, and if I get another chance to be involved, that would be astonishing.
Presently, there’s been no word from Gunn about who might take on the role of Wonder Woman next. Yet, he mentioned last year that ‘Paradise Lost’ is currently in an advanced stage of development and will progress when they’ve finished refining the script.
David Zaslav, CEO of WB Discovery, has highlighted that Wonder Woman is among their key characters. During a recent earnings call for Warner Bros. Discovery Q1, he mentioned that James Gunn and Peter Safran are developing a 10-year plan centered around DC’s major characters to boost global asset value. He emphasized that these include Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and Supergirl, indicating their significance in expanding our assets worldwide.
