As a seasoned film enthusiast with a soft spot for George Clooney and Brad Pitt, I must say I’m intrigued by the latest news about “Wolfs.” While I had hoped to catch this highly-anticipated movie on the big screen, I understand Apple’s strategy of reaching the broadest audience possible, especially with their megastar-driven projects.
Instead of having a widespread theater release, the movie “Wolves” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, won’t proceed that way, but it’s set to receive a sequel instead.
After making its world debut at the 81st Venice Film Festival, the Jon Watts movie is set for a limited theater release on September 20, 2024. A week later, on September 27, 2024, it will be available worldwide on Apple TV+.
As a gamer, I find myself immersed in an experience reminiscent of Doug Liman’s recent heist flick, “The Instigators,” featuring the charismatic Matt Damon. Just like it, this game had a restricted cinema premiere this week and will be available on Apple TV+ starting Friday.
Although Apple modified its approach for films like Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon, it seems they might not stick with this new strategy permanently. Instead, Apple is expected to maintain a pattern of theatrical releases followed by streaming premieres, as seen in the case of Brad Pitt’s F1 movie.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to see that Apple is carefully evaluating each movie it produces on an individual basis, aiming to reach the broadest potential audience for them, particularly those starring our beloved megastars.
It’s evident that there is considerable trust in the movie “Wolfs.” In fact, Watts and Apple Original Films have signed an agreement for a follow-up film featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
What is Wolfs about?
In Wolfs, Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up, and the two lone wolves are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways neither expected.
Wolfs also stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind and Zlatko Burić.
Jon Watts, renowned for helming Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series, takes on the role of both writer and director for the film titled Wolfs. Watts collaborates on production with Dianne McGunigle. George Clooney and Grant Heslov produce this project via Smokehouse Pictures, while a production team consisting of Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner from Plan B Entertainment is also involved.
From Apple Original Films, Wolf comes, but it’s Sony who’ll oversee its theatrical release. Following its stint in theaters, Wolf will be available for streaming on Apple TV+.
