As a seasoned gamer who’s been through countless cinematic adventures, I must say, the hype for Wolfs seemed promising with its star-studded cast and intriguing premise. However, after sifting through the mixed reviews, it feels like I’ve just stumbled upon a hidden trap in a game I thought was going to be epic.
The movie titled “Wolfs,” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, is hitting select U.S. theaters today before it becomes available on Apple TV Plus on September 27, 2024. Critics’ opinions about this Jon Watts-directed film are varied but generally lean towards positive feedback, resulting in average ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s Wolfs reviews are mixed
The film “Wolfs” made its debut at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on September 1, 2024, but has received generally mediocre reviews since then. The movie centers around two solitary wolf-like fixers who have been hired for the same task and must now figure out a way to collaborate.
According to Adam Graham from Detroit News, Wolf lacks any compelling elements that would warrant excitement or praise among viewers.
Manohla Dargis from The New York Times stated that the film acknowledges it’s a lightweight production, and furthermore, she noted it primarily serves as a platform for its main actors to play off their own characters, which can occasionally be amusing but also irritatingly self-satisfied. Unfortunately, it’s often irritating.
Kyle Smith from The Wall Street Journal commented that the plot points in “Wolfs” are so uninteresting, forced, and clumsily constructed (at times, the wolves feign being enemies who don’t know each other) that watching the movie feels like a laborious task similar to the one that initiates the storyline itself.
Instead of saying “In contrast,” we could say “On the other hand.” In this rephrased version, it would read: “On the other hand, Variety’s Owen Gleiberman commended the chemistry between the leads, referring to ‘Wolfs’ as a ‘well-made throwaway’ film. Gleiberman noted that ‘Wolfs’ embodies an elegant, clever, and fashionable production. It appears somewhat dated (in a positive sense). However, when considered as a movie that will be screened in theaters, ‘Wolfs’ ultimately amounts to a well-crafted throwaway film, offering nothing more or less than that.
Apple TV’s Wolfs starts with middling Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic scores
As a dedicated fan, I’ve got some exciting news to share! The film “Wolfs” has been receiving phenomenal feedback from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it’s garnered an impressive approval rating of 68% after 57 reviews. That’s not all; on Metacritic, a site known for its weighted average to rate movies, “Wolfs” currently stands at 60 out of 100, following 32 reviews. This suggests a “mixed or average” response, but as a fan, I’m eagerly awaiting the diverse opinions that will surely make the movie discussion even more intriguing!
