What happens in the new Wolf Man video?
In the video, you’ll find cast and crew explaining their preference for using real-life special effects rather than digital ones while making the movie.
In regards to the film “Wolf Man,” Whannell states that he found the most effective approach was a practical one. He desired the visuals to be real, making it seem as if the events were unfolding before our very eyes. Regarding the appearance of the Wolf Man, Whannell expresses his intention to create something distinctly different. And indeed, special make-up effects designer Arjen Tuiten produced something exceptionally artistic and terrifying.
Tuiten goes on to say, “I pondered over the idea of taking a fresh approach instead of following in the footsteps of previous works. The makeup done by Jack Pierce, Stan Winston, and Rick Baker is simply iconic.
In 1941, Pierce was responsible for the makeup in The Wolf Man, whereas Winston handled it for The Monster Squad in 1987, and Baker took care of it for The Wolfman in 2010.
The synopsis for “Wolf Man” goes as follows: Christopher Abbott, a Golden Globe nominee known for his roles in “Poor Things” and “It Comes at Night”, plays Blake – a San Francisco husband and father who inherits a secluded childhood home in rural Oregon after his father disappears. His marriage to high-powered wife, Charlotte (Emmy winner Julia Garner from “Ozark” and “Inventing Anna”), is strained, so he convinces her to take a break from the city and visit the property with their daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth from “Hullraisers” and “Coma”). Upon arriving at the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unidentified beast. In a panic, they barricade themselves inside as the creature circles the house. As the night deepens, however, Blake starts exhibiting bizarre behavior, transforming into something unsettling, and Charlotte must determine if the terror within their home is more dangerous than the danger lurking outside.
Wolf Man releases in United States on January 17, 2025.
