I first encountered Wind River back in 2017; it was a captivating neo-Western crime film that didn’t fail to impress. Starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, this thought-provoking production was brought to life by the skilled hand of director Taylor Sheridan. As a fan, I followed the story of a dedicated U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker and an unyielding FBI agent. Their joint mission: to unravel the mystery behind a gruesome murder that took place on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
In the film’s synopsis, Cory Lambert, played by Jeremy Renner, comes across a frozen body of a Native American woman in a federal area following a game. The FBI then sends rookie agent Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) to handle the investigation. However, as Cory grapples with his past demons, Jane’s homicide probe faces obstruction. They eventually uncover that bringing the girl’s killer to justice isn’t everyone in Wind River’s desired outcome.
At present, Patrick Massett and John Zinman are working on the screenplay for the upcoming sequel to Wind River, titled “Wind River: The Next Chapter.”
