What is The Instigators about?
In the synopsis, Rory (Damon) and Cobby (Affleck) are initially unwilling allies: a distraught father and a former convict forced to collaborate for a daring heist aimed at retrieving ill-obtained funds from a corrupt politician. However, when the robbery goes awry, they find themselves in hot water, pursued not just by law enforcement but also by vindictive bureaucrats and vengeful crime lords. With no choice but to improvise, they persuade Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) to join them on their chaotic escape through the city. They must set aside their differences and cooperate if they hope to elude capture – or face even graver consequences.
The movie is helmed by Doug Liman, who worked from a script penned by Affleck and Chuck MacLean. The star-studded cast features Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow, and Ron Perlman. Production is handled by Damon, Ben Affleck, Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Kevin J.
