Willy Chavarria Among 2025 Finalists for Top ANDAM Prize

Following an impressive premiere at Paris Fashion Week in January to mark its 10-year milestone, American brand Willy Chavarria has been selected as a finalist for both the Grand and Special Prizes at the ANDAM Fashion Awards 2025.

Chavarria has teamed up with EGONlab, a French mens label that claimed the Pierre Bergé Prize in 2021, along with three female designers: Alain Paul, Meryll Rogge, and Zomer. This collaboration was established within ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode), founded by Nathalie Dufour in 1989 in partnership with the French Ministry of Culture. Its purpose is to serve as a nurturing environment and recognition platform for budding designers on both the French and international fashion scene.

Martin Margiela became the inaugural ANDAM fellowship recipient in 1989, laying a solid foundation for the organization that endured through subsequent years. Among the pioneers who followed suit were Christopher Lemaire, founder of Lemaire, who received the award in 1990, and Jean Touitou of A.P.C., who was honored in 1992. In recent times, contemporary designers such as 3.Paradis, Bianca Saunders, Botter, Y/Project, Marine Serre, and others have been bestowed the honor by the organization.

In a statement given to WWD this year, Dufour expressed that regardless of their stage of development, whether they are new or well-established brands, the importance of maintaining liquidity is crucial for their longevity. He added that the selected profiles provide an intriguing perspective on various economic models that can be developed to thrive and find a niche in a highly competitive market: B2C strategy, specialized positioning, managed growth, innovative approaches, and eco-commitment.
